Getting Started on 3rd Rock Grid
It’s easy to get started! Just follow the five steps below and you’ll be exploring 3rd Rock Grid in no time.
Step 1: Create a Control Panel Account
The first thing you’ll need is a control panel account, since that’s where you’ll manage many aspects of your virtual life — from your avatars to your land and billing. You can create your account at 3rg.mygridpanel.com.
When you sign up, we’ll send you a confirmation email with a link you’ll need to click to verify your email address. Once confirmed, you’re ready to log in to the control panel.
Step 2: Create Your First Avatar
Next, head over to the Avatar Creation page. If you aren’t already logged into the control panel, you’ll be prompted to log in first.
Enter an avatar first name, an avatar last name, and a password, then click Create Avatar. If the email address on the avatar is different from your control panel account, you’ll need to validate that email address as well.
Step 3: Download a Viewer
To explore 3rd Rock Grid, you’ll need a viewer. If you don’t already have one installed, visit our Download a Viewer page for links and instructions.
Step 4: Add 3rd Rock Grid to Your Viewer
Open your viewer and check whether 3rd Rock Grid is already listed in your grid list.
- If it’s listed, simply select it.
- If it isn’t listed, add it using our grid URI:
http://grid.3rdrockgrid.com:8002
Step 5: Log In and Explore
With 3rd Rock Grid selected, enter your avatar’s first name, last name, and password, then click Login.
If this is your first time logging in, you’ll land in our Welcome region, where you’ll find helpful signs to point you in the right direction — and you may even be greeted by one of our friendly greeters. Feel free to explore and get to know your new world!
