Intellectual Property Rights

The Stichting Cultural Harbour (SCH), the organisation behind 3RD Rock Grid, will help to protect the Intellectual Property Rights of our creators. In the Netherlands, the country where the Stichting Cultural Harbour is based, your Intellectual Property Rights are covered by the Autheurswet. A few points of note in this law:

  • Deliberate infringement of IPR is punishable as a crime.
  • The primary responsibility for enforcing IPR lies with the owner of the rights (through legal action).
  • The Stichting Cultural Harbour has a limited liability for any damages caused by processing illegal data,
  • But is obliged to take action once notified of an IPR infringement.

Creators

If you are a creator on 3RD Rock Grid and suspect or notice that your creations are used in ways that are an infringement of your Intellectual Property Rights, please get in touch with us (support ticket), and we will help you to get the issue resolved. We will:

  • help to find out who is behind the infringement,
  • help contact them to resolve the issue amicably,
  • block or remove the content if that fails,
  • and as a last resort, remove access to our services for the person or persons involved in the infringement.

Users

If you are a user on 3RD Rock Grid, and found to have illegal content in your possession, don't panic! We understand this can happen without you knowing it. However, we like to keep our grid 'clean' and stop the spread of illegal content. So we will:

  • contact you and explain the situation,
  • ask you to share any information you have on the illegal content,
  • and ask you to delete the illegal content. Please note that we cannot and will not refund you if you paid for the offending content.

Please help us to make 3RD Rock Grid a safe harbour for the very creative people in virtual worlds.
If you have any further questions about IPR infringements, don't hesitate to contact us (support ticket).
