3rd Rock Grid Virtual Games
(July 14 – Extended to 12/31/2012)
 For many in virtual life, the abilities to create fantastic and fun content as a builder or a designer, an animator, graphic artist, or a scripter is the most satisfying activitiy of being part of a 3D virtual life. For others it is the global friendships that can be created and maintained, along with the many social aspects of virtual life, such as listening to music, dancing, competing in games of skill or chance, shopping, exploring, or role play. Additionally, there are many that are wanting to take on the challenge of virtual commerce, to create clubs, businesses, attractions, perform, or use those creative skills in the hope of generating some virtual income, or to simply defray the costs of renting virtual assets.
There is also a group that uses virtual life as an extension of their physical real life selves, who, for whatever reasons are unable to participate as vigorously in the physical world as they can in a virtual environment.
No matter your reason for being a virtual traveler, it is activity and relationships that makes it worth the effort, and in recognition of the many different reasons people enjoy the virtual world experience,
3rd Rock Grid Announces the 2012 3RG Virtual Games
This event, which will take place over the course of over 5 months, will feature activities and competitions in the form of races, quests,  building contests, and more - as well as other benefits (prizes! specials!) of attending, voting, or participating as a contestant. For each of the events that are part of the Virtual Games Event, you can collect Gems that will have a monetary value and will be redeemed for a share of the Treasure Trove of Geodes and other prizes, as well as be used to determine the overall winners of the Games events. You can even accumulate Gems by simply showing up for the events that are part of the Games. The Gems are discussed in greater detail in an article Titled "3RG Gems" Accumulation of virtual wealth during the 3rd Rock Grid Virtual Games
 To complement the many grid wide skill events and activities, there will also be an increase in our music and dancing parties, and shows throughout 3RG, introductions of new live musical artists, other music based events, artistic creations, poetry, and educational events to the grid. You will receive Ruby Gems for simply coming to and enjoying these events. All Gem qualified events will have a gem distribution prim at the event and noted on the calendar of events.

 Prim Pictionary Challenge - a team based game using builds to help team members guess the correct answer using tools and prims already created to help folks both experienced and those who are building challenged!
Starting at 11:00 AM Sunday July, 15.

 Core Explore - This event will cover over 25 regions and will have multiple events happening throughout the period of the 3RG Virtual Games.

 Orca Races- Ride your Orca through a multi-region racecourse using your course time as a measure.

 Walkabout Wanderings - Robs Rock Island Presents a number of competative events using the Walkabout space. Races, Quests, Music events, and knowledge games will be just part of the scene!

 Sara's Sci-Fi Adventure - A quest being developed and will be part of the 3RG Virtual Games in a few weeks. You can be assured that Sara will give you a fun challenge.

 Mission Astraios - United Federation Starfleet will be doing a number of events on both their Role-Play region and 3RG community land. So brish up on your Star Trek Trivia, and think about which world you want to represent as a player. It is likely you will be enjoying the Astraios Colony for a long time after too.

ROBS Runaround Races - starting at a known location, follow the course markers throughout the ROB Regions to the end of each race to get your Emerald Gems. Each race will get longer and more complex as do the prizes. There are multiple races, with the final race based on what you learned from the prior runs.

New Musicians Live Music - Each week on Sunday 9:00 AM starting July 29th we will be featuring a musician or artist that is not yet a regularaly scheduled performer. The Virtual Games will give us an opportunity to see and hear now folk that may want to also check out our grid. The winners of the competition will be offered a regular gig on the 3RG Gig if desire

Kered's Wicked Hunt
This is a biggie and will run over a full month. Twenty Five Sims, fifty items some may be eggs, some not; but they will be filled with goodies. The first person to find them all will win a prize and a gold medal, crowned as the Virtual Games Hunt Champion.
It’s not going to be easy. I have some very fiendish places lined up, so you need to look very carefully. If you would like to donate any of the prize ‘fillings’ for the hunt, your store LM will be added - prizes to Kered Owl. Otherwise it’s going to be one of the sought after ‘Zinnia’s Logo Tee Shirt’s’. Enough said –rolls eyes. So keep those donations coming in.
On touching an item your name is recorded and you take the prize inside. No good touching more than once – they are scripted and I know who you are! It won’t be counted in the final score.
So happy hunting and see if you can bag a few gifts in the process

This competition will be about creating structures, the judging will be based on many factors including appearance, navagability, texture use, prim use, quality and creativity. This is a multiple round event with a grand prize judging at the end of the Virtual Games event. The structure size and prim count will be pre-defined

Music and Art display
The successful winners of this competition will see their creations placed into the art and music space named ROBs Walkabout , a permenant display are to recognize the rich and varied artists, musicians, and poets that make all of lives enhanced and enjoyable.
